A day full of action, team spirit and animal talents - dog sports live in the small Öschle
On Saturday, 12 April 2025, the grounds of the dog sports club in the small Öschle became a stage for impressive four-legged friends and their sporty two-legged friends. Once a year, the club opens its doors to introduce a wide audience to the fascinating world of dog sport - and this time, too, there was plenty on offer.
From Obedience and discipline during the companion dog test rapid runs from canicross to the sport of breathtaking turning manoeuvres in the agility course and the Precision of Rally Obedience: The various disciplines were impressively presented and explained with great enthusiasm.
Whether experienced dog handler, curious newcomer or simply a dog fan - everyone was invited to look, marvel and be inspired.
Of course, the physical well-being was not neglected either: Beate, the second board member, made sure that young and old were well catered for with home-baked cakes, hot coffee and cool drinks - a real highlight for the cosy break in between.
The preparations
Preparations were already in full swing early in the morning. The dedicated trainers and volunteers had set up courses, marked out stations and organised everything to ensure everything ran smoothly. When the starting signal was given at 2 p.m., the site was ready - and so were the visitors.
A day that leaves its mark - in the heart and on the dog run
With pricked ears and curious gazes, they followed the demonstrations, asked questions, exchanged ideas - and were later even allowed to take part themselves. Anyone who wanted to could try out the various disciplines together with their own dog. It was not uncommon for a new spark to be lit: Perhaps a new hobby? Perhaps the start of a strong human-dog team?
As the day slowly drew to a close, one thing was clear: the Dog sports club in the small Öschle has not only shown his skills, but also opened hearts. And if you've just acquired a taste for it - don't worry! New faces are always welcome.
