Team test for dogs: A guide to successful testing

Team-Test
Team test (examination regulations)

Team“The aim of the Team Test is to enable dog owners with well-behaved dogs who are interested in living together with non-dog owners in a stress-free and positive way.

WithTEAMThe aim is to show that dogs of any breed and species can still fit into everyday life today if the dog owner is aware of his responsibility and maintains appropriate communication with his dog.Of course, this includes the exercise unit of encountering two-wheelers, joggers, several strangers and other conspecifics.

You can start this basic training at a very early stage and introduce the dog to the tasks in a playful way so that at least one year old dog can successfully complete the team test.

For almost two decades, local clubs within the German Kennel Club (dhv), a member organisation of the German Kennel Club Association (VDH), have been offering training in the following areasTEAMsuccessfully to all dog owners.

Dog owners who come to dog sports clubs for training courses acknowledge their responsibility towards the environment and their dogs, thereby simultaneously counteracting the negative image of dogs and their owners that is portrayed in public.

The team test is characterised by the fact that all interested dog owners can take part in this test, regardless of whether they are members of a dog club or not and regardless of whether they have a small, large, purebred or mixed breed dog.

Before dog owner and dog become a team, they learn how to deal with each other.

In the basic training of the dog, the human is the master, boss or - in terms of behavioural psychology - also the pack leader, but when they work together they form a team.

The individual exercises of the team test are very much geared towards ensuring that the well-trained dog can move in many everyday situations in a completely uncomplicated and tension-free manner. To achieve this result, you will find that in many exercises of the team test, other people and other dogs are involved in tasks.

At least two people belong to a team, in dog sports this is the human with his dog or, globally, the humans and the dogs.

General provisions for the „Team Test“

Membership of a VDH/dhv association or club is not required.

The dog presented mustat least12monthsThe age must be proven by presenting the pedigree or the vaccination certificate.

During the entire team test, the dog must wear a collar (commercially available chain, leather or plastic collar) or a chest harness and must always be kept on a lead or tied up outside the training area.

The „team test“ is taken by an LR of thedhv and the passing of the test is certified by the entry of the points scored in a certificate.

„Team tests are permitted in the context of other dog sport competitions. at least 6 teams are required to participate in pure team test events and a maximum of 18 teams per day are authorised to start when a performance judge is involved. the test of a team corresponds to two divisions.

Thedhv member organisations regulate the execution in accordance with the framework provisions of thedhv-BH/VT regulations.

The organiser may charge the participants an entry fee.

The dogs presented must have vaccination cover in accordance with the statutory regulations. Each participant must sign the registration form to confirm that the registered dog is covered by liability insurance.

Hot bitches may participate, but will be presented to the judge at the end. Obviously ill or injured dogs are excluded from the „team test“.

Each participant may present a maximum of two dogs to the judge in a „team test“.

The judge is authorised to remove an injured dog or a dog whose performance is impaired from the test, even against the judge's judgement.

If the dog is found to have character defects, unsportsmanlike behaviour (e.g. consumption of alcohol, carrying of motivational objects/food), breaches of thePO , breaches of animal welfare regulations or breaches of good manners, the team must be disqualified for the rest of the trial.

The organiser of a „team test“ must ensure that a test manager is appointed, who is responsible to the performance judge for the application for protection of the date, the written handling of the test, the staffing for the execution of the exercises and the provision of the necessary test area.

A)Team test on a training ground,(total score50)

Each individual exercise begins and ends with the basic position; the final basic position of the previous exercise can be used as the starting basic position for the following exercise.

If a handler is unable to perform a part of the exercise correctly due to a physical disability, he must inform the judge of this before the start of the test. If a disability prevents the handler from leading the dog on the left side of the handler, the dog may be led on the right side in the same way.

The judge gives the instructions at the start of an exercise, but everything else, such as turns, halts, changes of gait, etc., is carried out without the judge's instructions, although the handler is authorised to ask the judge for these instructions.
